I enjoyed this talk. The part about the portfolio (19:33) was a bit funny. The portfolio was very unbalanced because google's price is so high relative to the others, and so the portfolio was almost 50% composed of google, and that's where the gains came from.

i just checked my PFF portfolio again - overall now up 49% - GOOG does factor heavily, but with the exception of 3 stocks, i've got gains averaging 50-70%. if i take out GOOG, the portfolio return is 18% to date. but remember, i wasn't picking individual stocks. i made a basket from PFF donors verbatim. the fact that GOOG is there is part of the experiment. obviously, if the portfolio didn't return anything remarkable, then there would be no argument to make.
